PS3 YLOD - 4 Tips To Fix The Yellow Light of Death on a Playstation 3

If you as a PlayStation user are faced with a blinking yellow PS3 light, you don't need to panic. You can fix it in an hour or two and get on with your gaming in no time!
How do you end up getting a PS3 with a YLOD error?
The YLOD error is all about the internal hardware. The two chips inside the PS3 i.e. the GPU and CPU are responsible for smooth running of the PS3 and are connected to the motherboard. If either chip looses connection with the motherboard then it results in problems with the PS3.
When you are busy gaming or playing movies on your PS3, it heats up because it has a small heat sink and a few fans. It cools down when you rest your Console. However, over time, when the PS3 heats up to such a point that connection cannot be established it results in a flashing yellow PS3 light along with an odd beeping sound.
What You Can Do Yourself at Home to Fix the YLOD error
Fix #1: Give It a Rest
So what if it's the PS3, every machine needs a rest. You could leave it overnight to cool down and try turning it on the next day.
Fix #2: Check the Connections
You should check all the cables to make sure that they are attached securely and firmly. Try removing them and re-attaching them.
Fix #3: Hard Drive Correction
You can pull out your hard disk from your PS3, connect it to your computer, and format it. You will have to then reconnect the hard disk back into your PS3 and install the software.
Fix #4: The Permanent Fix
• Switch off the PS3 and remove all the attached components.
• Open up the console using a screwdriver to get a clear view of the components.
• Apply a little amount of heat to the solder connections using a soldering gun to establish the original link.
• Leave the console open for sometime until the solder connection cools down.
• To improve the conductivity of heat you can apply thermal grease to the CPU.
• With a soft cloth, clean the insides of the console applying very little pressure to remove any sort of dust that may have gathered over time.
• Reassemble the console and screw it back together.
• Allow the PS3 to cool down for a couple of hours before plugging it back in.
No more worrying about the Yellow Light of Death Error on your PS3. Your PS3 will be back in the game after trying out all these fixes and you can continue having fun with your console.
